Clean hands and big hearts: How Kinder Haven is handling COVID-19

Kinder Haven Leading Childcare

In this time of uncertainty and change, the health and safety of Kinder Haven families and team members remains our highest priority.

We understand that information, kindness and support are currently essential in keeping all children, families and teams feeling reassured. Below, you’ll find a number of resources to help at this time.

Enrolling now across some centres

On June 8, 2020, the Education Minister announced the return to the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), with payments re-commencing as of July 13, 2020.

This announcement means that we are now able to welcome more bookings at some of our centres to cater to your full requirements and re-establish our close connections with families. Victorian families, please read below for more information on how the restrictions have impacted our centres.

We understand that the COVID-19 situation has resulted in a challenging economic climate for our country. As we all work to navigate our way through the new normal, we know some families may require assistance regarding understanding the options available to them.

Our ultimate purpose is to ensure all our families have all the tools and information at their disposal to feel confident in their children’s continued journey in early childhood education.

Families are encouraged to contact their Centre Manager with help regarding the easing of the activity test, the Additional Child Care Subsidy, our Flexible Hours program and more to determine how to make the subsidy work best for them.

Important updates for Victorian centres

From Thursday 6 August, restrictions apply to Victorian early childhood education and care services until at least Sunday 13 September.

We understand that these new arrangements will contribute to further disruption and dislocation for our families and the communities we are a part of, and we do not take these impacts lightly. We are here to support your family, and we will continue to ensure that you are informed of the latest information and updates as they come to hand.

Centres in Metropolitan Melbourne will remain open only for vulnerable children and children whose parents are permitted workers. Centres in regional and rural Victoria under Stage 3 restrictions continue to operate in line with our Covid-19 Health and Safety Management Plan.

Victorian centres will waive parent gap fees if a child does not attend care due to a COVID-19 reason. While you will still pay your normal gap fee on the days that your child attends their centre, you will not pay any out-of-pocket expenses should your child be unable to attend care due to the restrictions or for COVID-19 reasons.

The fee waiver means that enrolments will be held during this time, whereas cancelling your bookings could potentially see your child waitlisted if you wish to return following the restrictions lifting.

Kinder Haven is also extending the following actions, consistent with the advice of the Victorian Department of Education and Training, to all centres in Victoria effective Monday 3 August:

  • Families and visitors to any of our centres in Victoria are required to wear a face covering at all times while within the centre, including drop off and pick up of children;
  • Team members are required to wear a face covering when conducting health and wellness monitoring on children upon arrival, and at all other times they are not working directly with children while within the centre.

For any questions about the above, please speak to your Centre Manager.

How will my child be protected in their centre?

Kool Kids COVID Update

All Kool Kids centres are using Zoono Hand Sanitiser and Zoono Microbe Shield to provide the highest level of protection for children while also protecting their skin.

Dermatologically tested and ultra-gentle, with no harmful chemicals, Zoono products last all day on skin and up to 28 days on surfaces while fighting bacteria and fungi. Zoono Hand Sanitiser also keeps killing 99.9% of germs for up to 24 hours, even after normal activity and hand washing.

Test results show that Zoono’s Z-71 Microbe Shield (the same Zoono technology used in Zoono Hand Sanitiser) is > 99.99% effective against feline coronavirus (the recognised surrogate for COVID-19). Click here to find out more about Zoono.

Many other initiatives have also been introduced, including Visitor Entry Guidelines, daily updates to our support teams, suspension of face-to-face training, more vigorous cleaning routines and separating cohorts of children where possible, to name a few.

G8 Education is consistently monitoring the advice from state and federal authorities and follows the all required and preventative measures stipulated to prevent the spread of COVID 19.
