The children and educators from Maroubra Kinder Haven had a wonderful time at ‘Blue Day’ last Monday, where they had the opportunity to dress up and paint lots of eggs in celebration of Greek Orthodox Easter.
Centre Manager, Emily discusses how the children enjoyed themselves and had lots of fun experiencing a festive period of another culture. “All the children absolutely loved participating with Greek Easter and the fun activities that were involved,” she said.
“In the lead up to the event, the children made traditional Greek dessert known as Koulourakia and painted lots of eggs with their friends. They were all dressed up in the blue and white Greek colours and were treated to a delicious lunch on the day. In our centre, we also had the opportunity to learn some of the language and were taught the ‘Zorba’ dance by the Greek educators and families involved with the centre. The children all had huge smiles on their faces and are definitely looking forward to participating in Greek Easter again next year”.
Maroubra Kinder Haven has strong ties to the Greek community and the educators believe it is important for the children to experience and be educated about cultural diversity. Our centre provides quality settings with detailed, age specific resources to enrich the development and education of all children.
